IndiGo’s Bold Leap: Daily Flights from Mumbai to London

IndiGos Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner

IndiGo, India’s largest and most preferred carrier, is set to make a landmark move in international aviation with the launch of daily non-stop flights between Mumbai and London Heathrow Airport, starting 26 October 2025. This new route is more than just a connection between two cities. It is a strategic leap that strengthens the air corridor between India and the United Kingdom, enhancing opportunities for business, tourism, education, and cultural exchange.

Connecting Two Global Cities with Seamless Travel

London Heathrow is not just Europe’s busiest airport. It is the most connected airport in the world, serving as a gateway to the UK, Europe, and transatlantic destinations. IndiGo’s entry into Heathrow marks a significant milestone in its global expansion strategy. This route follows the airline’s successful launch of flights between Mumbai and Manchester earlier this year, reinforcing its commitment to the UK market.

The new service will be operated using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, leased from Norse Atlantic Airways. The aircraft features a dual-class configuration, offering both Economy Class and IndiGoStretch, the airline’s premium long-haul product designed for comfort and convenience.

Strategic Importance of the Route

This new route offers more than convenience. It provides:

  • Smooth connections to South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Central Asia
  • A vital link between Mumbai, India’s financial capital, and London, one of the world’s leading financial centres

The route is expected to serve a wide range of travellers, including business professionals, students, tourists, and families. It also supports growing trade and investment between India and the UK.

IndiGo’s Global Vision

IndiGo has added nearly 40 international destinations since 2015, with 20 of those added in the last three years. The airline made its long-haul debut in July 2025 with flights to Manchester, Amsterdam, and Copenhagen. London Heathrow is now IndiGo’s 45th international destination and 138th overall.

With a fleet of over 400 aircraft, IndiGo operates more than 2,200 daily flights, connecting 90 domestic and 40 international destinations. In FY25, the airline welcomed over 118 million passengers and was named Best Airline in India and South Asia by Skytrax.
