Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport of Mumbai, the record holder of Busiest Single Runway Airport in the World, announced new connections to Russia and Kazakhstan. The airport, will soon be connecting Mumbai with direct flights to Moscow and Almaty. Aeroflot Russian Airlines, Russia’s flag carrier, and Ural Airlines will be commencing and Mumbai to it’s growing international network. Air Astana from Kazakhstan will also commence it’s operation to CSMIA Mumbai.
Mumbai to Russia
Starting 31st March 2020, Mumbai will be connecting to Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport (DME) 4 times a week on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday by Ural Airlines. From 1st July 2020, Aeroflot will connect Mumbai and Moscow’s Terminal Sheremetyevo with daily flights.
Mumbai to Kazhakstan
Similarly, from 1st June 2020, Mumbai will be connecting to Almaty International Airport 4 times a week on Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday by Air Astana. Aeroflot used to fly to CSMIA and had terminated services back in March 2009. The airline is planning to restart service between Moscow Sheremetyevo and Mumbai after a ten-year absence from its network with the Airbus A330-200. However, Ural Airlines and Air Astana will be flying the Airbus A321/Airbus A321neo on this sector.
Currently, CSMIA Mumbai has been connected to Tashkent, Uzbekistan with thrice weekly flights. However, addition of these new flights in Summer Schedule of 2020 will increase the frequency to Commonwealth of Independent States to 18 flights a week.
